DONATE TO THE LANGLEY HIGH SCHOOL BAND PROGRAM!
The Langley High School band program offers an incredibly enriching experience for its students.
School budgets do not cover the costs of band programs, and so through fundraising, the band program is able to purchase new instruments, repair equipment, provide instrument-specific sectionals instruction by professional musicians, buy marching band and color guard uniforms, and subsidize our band competitions, events and transportation.
Our concert programs acknowledge those who donate $50 or more to the LHS band program (unless requested to give anonymously). Our donor webpage will highlight donors all year long. Our spring 5K sponsors are highlighted periodically in band communications and Langley's weekly PTSA newsletter.
The LHS Band Association is a 501 (c) (3) organization; all donations are tax deductible. Use the PayPal donate button to securely send donations. You'll immediately receive an email receipt of your donation.
We invite everyone to come out for Friday night football games and watch the Marching Saxons perform at half-time. Winter and spring concerts, performed in the LHS Auditorium, are free and open to all.
FUNDRAISERS
The band holds two main fundraisers each year:
TAG DAY
Tag Day is a long-standing tradition among high school bands and is our main fundraiser. Tag Day is well-received in our community, and occurs on a Saturday in September (usually a week or two after school starts). Students wear their marching season show t-shirt or another Langley shirt and walk door-to-door in pairs asking for donations to the band program. (They leave an informational door-tag if residents aren’t home, resulting in the “Tag Day” event name.) Students are driven to/through neighborhoods in the Langley boundary. In addition, other students are stationed at tables at local shopping areas. Others perform in small ensembles at local shopping centers.
BANDS ON THE RUN 5K
The 5K is a recent event Langley HS and Cooper MS bands began in order to help fund the needs associated with the growing band program in the Langley pyramid. Looking at the success and growth of the area elementary school and Cooper MS band programs, we saw the need for the purchase of additional marching band uniforms, percussion instruments and equipment, and musical instruments, especially those not often purchased by families, such as tubas or English horns.
The annual Bands on the Run 5K starts and ends at Langley on a Sunday morning each April. Band members, families, friends and runners from the community enjoy a beautiful morning and DJ entertainment, snacks and vendors afterwards. Money is raised from both the sponsorships and the participant registrations.
